We have a problem. Not just we, as in you and I, but the collective society “we.” Every morning we wake up and have ideas of what we’d like to accomplish for the day. But once the day actually starts, all hell breaks loose. Your plan has been foiled. Next thing you know, it’s time to go to bed and you realize that you spent the better part of the day putting out fires, not working on the things that matter most to you. This happens day after day until, seemingly out of nowhere, five years has gone by in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, you never got around to realizing your dreams and now they seem so far away that you’re not sure that you’ll ever reach them.
Does this sound familiar?
If it does, you’re not unlike a lot of your peers, whether they are cognizant of the fact or not. It seems like today, more than ever, we live in a state of reactivity. An unforeseen event happens…and we react. But the problem is, when we’re reactive, we’re never in control. Like a car stuck in the mud, spinning it’s wheels but getting nowhere, we have no traction.
I believe that life is meant to be lived on purpose. Instead of going through the motions or constantly reacting to surrounding circumstances, we should take control of our lives. I feel that we should execute our game plan every single day. We should set our intentions the night before (or the morning of), focus on our priorities (not what the world tries to redirect our focus on), and stay true to our core values.
Every action we take should be done for one reason – to enjoy life more. Even actions that seem unrelated to your happiness should boil down to exactly that. Why do we work? We work so that we can get fulfillment by accomplishing a shared goal, so that we can provide for our loved ones, and so that we can earn money to pay for experiences.
How do you live a life on purpose when the norm has become to go through the motions?
That’s what this website has been made to address. Through our daily posts and interactions, we will encourage you to live your best life – a life filled with purpose, meaning, and positivity.
This website is years in the making. I created my first website when I turned 25. Frankly, it wasn’t very good (and that’s being generous). I was inspired after talking with my dad about the meaning of life. I had questions, and I didn’t know who to turn to. Well, the bad news is that I still have questions. And after my dad passed away, I felt the onus was on me to figure it out. Now I know better. Through this platform that we share together, it is my hope that we can all participate to improve each other’s lives. This is a place for us to congregate – to share our ideas on how we can live our best lives. As I continue this journey through life, with you by my side, I’ll share my thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs and encourage you to do the same.
Just so we’re clear though…I will make mistakes along the way. A lot of mistakes. I’ll change my mind a thousand times and may have conflicting/contradictory thoughts from time to time. But hey, I never said that I had it all figured out. And that’s why you’re here too. Together, we can keep each other grounded. Ultimately, I hope that we find the collective work published on this website can act as a guide to us all living our best lives.
Here’s to the wonderful journey ahead!
