“Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful.” – Warren Buffet
Everyday is a great day
Every day is a great day. It’s all about your perspective. You can have bad things happen to you where you had a down moment, but there is always something to be grateful for.
Stop saying “I can’t”
We need to stop saying “I can’t”…if it’s something you don’t want to do, tell the truth. Not “I can’t,” but “I don’t want to.” If it’s something you’re not sure of, it’s not “I can’t,” but instead “I don’t know how.” But don’t just stop there. Ask yourself a question. Ask, “how can I?”
How can you achieve what you want to? What thoughts, words, and actions do you need to change? Do you need to ask someone for help as a mentor? Do you need to ask someone for help as a business partner, workout buddy, or accountability partner? Do you need to read more about the subject, research it, YouTube it?
When you’re stuck, it’s not permanent. It’s just a temporary road block. Figure out what you need to do differently or who can help you learn how to overcome that obstacle.
Change your mindset.
Types of intelligence and learning from others
We are all much more similar in intelligence levels than most people believe. I think the people who grade better in the classroom might naturally be more inclined have more “book smarts,” but it’s not because they are smarter individuals. I think that it’s a learned skill that their environment has allowed them to pick up more quickly than others. Maybe their parents spent more time reading with them, asking them questions, letting them work through problems instead of just answering the questions for them or jumping in at the first sign of struggle. It’s how we focus and where we dedicate our time and energy.
But just because someone doesn’t earn good grades doesn’t mean they aren’t smart. They could be very good with people skills and be a great salesperson or even a great leader. They could be very good with their hands and be an amazing mechanic or carpenter. Meanwhile, the people with good grades may be lacking in those areas.
The point is, dot discredit someone’s intelligence just because they don’t see things the way you do. Where you have an advantage in certain areas, you’re likely lacking in others. Make sure to keep an open mind. You can learn something from anyone.
On courage, fear, and taking action
Courage is not never being afraid. Courage is having fear and acting anyways.
We are all fearful of something – being criticized, looking dumb, losing a loved one, losing our health, losing our status/reputation, losing our job/career/income, etc. But the only way to live life is to hear your fears, but to keep pushing forward.
Don’t let your fears stop you from taking action. Use them to motivate you to make your life better.
