Teamwork makes the dream work

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

You can only go so far, or accomplish so much, on your own. It takes teamwork to achieve something great.

Teams (especially large teams with many decision-makers) can take a long time to decide and act on something. It is easier to move quickly when your team is small or you’re by yourself. But you will be limited by your time, energy, and mental capabilities if you only work alone. If you work with a team, with each team member having their own strengths and bringing something valuable to the team, you can achieve something larger than any one person.

Embrace your unique self

Don’t be afraid to be “weird.” We’re all weird in some ways – some more than others, but that’s good! The worst thing you can be is like everyone else. How boring would it be if you never had an original thought of your own? How terrible would it feel to not be able to express your true self?

You may think you’re weird, but guess what? We all are. Your true friends will accept you for who you are.

Be you and let others be them…

March to the beat of your own drum. Don’t just do you things because you think that’s what someone your age should be doing or how they should be acting. Be your authentic self and don’t get mad at others for being their authentic selves, even if their thoughts/actions doesn’t align with what you believe in.

Remember that most people are good people, but they have had different experiences that help shape their thoughts. They want what’s best for themselves and their community and they probably have different ideas from you as to how to get there. Withhold judgment of others and focus on being the best, most forgiving version of yourself.
